Crown Melbourne recently announced the 2013 Aussie Millions Poker Championship, which will feature 26 “Championship-Ring” events with buy-ins ranging from AUD$500 to AUD$250,000 from January 17 through February 3, 2013.
“As one of the only remaining independent events on the international poker circuit, the Aussie Millions has effectively become one of the top four poker majors and a favorite amongst some of the most renowned players in the world,” said Crown’s Chief Executive Officer Greg Hawkins of the event.
“It’s the place I keep coming back to, for the poker, the Australian Open tennis, the atmosphere, the staff and the Australian people,” said 2007 Aussie Millions Champion Gus Hansen. “The exquisite effort by Crown to make it a great event for the novice, the aspiring amateur and the high-stakes pro keeps you coming back time after time.”
The 2013 schedule is highlighted by the return of the $250,000 Challenge, $100,000 Challenge and the popular Joe Hachem and Shane Warne Charity Poker Tournament; however, the cornerstone of the series remains the AUD$10,600 Main Event, which is estimated to award a AUD$2,000,000 first-place prize and will take place on Sunday, January 27 and conclude on Saturday, February 2.
